Dunbar Community Talking Books Initiative £250 donation!!

Community Windpower & BeGreen Dunbar are delighted to be supporting the Dunbar Talking Book Initiative.

The project was started by local resident, Jackie Brown. Jackie who is blind herself has lived in Dunbar all her life. She has taken on the task to raise as much money as she can, to sponsor a Talking Book (audio book). The price of these books are £2500 for an adult book and £1500 for a children's book. However, they are free of charge to use.

For blind and partially sighted people like Jackie, audio books can be an absolute lifeline. Whether it is listening to the latest novel, learning a new language, or losing yourself in poetry, the library provides a wide range of books for everyone to enjoy.

BeGreen is delighted to have donated £250 to Jackie's project. David Currie, BeGreen Energy Assessor, said, "It was lovely to meet Jackie and help her out with this donation. She was so excited to be raising money and awareness of the Talking Book Initiative. It's such a fantastic cause and one we are all proud to be part of. Good Luck, Jackie!"

Once the total has been reached, a book will be chosen and recorded with a dedication acknowledging the generosity of the Dunbar community in East Lothian. This will be played at the start of the book each time somebody downloads it and the book will remain in the RNIB library for all to enjoy for many years to come.
